Chemical contaminants in aggregate can significantly compromise the performance of concrete, asphalt, and stabilised pavement materials. Clay, organic matter, and sugar are among the most damaging — inhibiting cement hydration, disrupting bitumen adhesion, and reducing the long-term integrity of bound pavement layers. ARC Laboratory Services provides accredited aggregate chemical testing to Australian Standards from our NATA-accredited laboratory in South Guildford, Perth. Our chemical test suite includes Clay Fine Silt (AS 1141.33), Organic Impurities (AS 1141.34), and Sugar content assessment (AS 1141.35), giving engineers, concrete producers, and contractors the data needed to approve or reject aggregate sources before construction begins.
