ARC Laboratory Services provides aggregate soundness and degradation testing to AS 1141 specifications. We conduct Sodium Sulphate Soundness testing to AS 1141.24, which simulates weathering by assessing aggregate breakdown under repeated wetting and drying cycles. Accelerated Soundness by Reflux provides a faster alternative soundness assessment using chemical immersion. Degradation Factor testing evaluates breakdown resistance for both coarse aggregate and source rock, providing data critical for road base and pavement layer approval. We also provide Methylene Blue Absorption Value testing to AS 1141.66, which quantifies the clay mineral content of fine fractions and indicates susceptibility to moisture-related deterioration. These tests support aggregate source qualification and durability assessment for road construction and civil infrastructure projects across Western Australia.
